It is with deep sadness that the Holy Synod of the Genuine Orthodox Christians of Greece announces the repose in the Lord of its ever-memorable First-Hierarch, Archbishop Chrysostomos II of Athens and All Greece, today on Sunday 6/19 of September 2010 at 1:30 PM.
The Holy Synod met in an extraordinary meeting at the Monastery of the Most-Immaculate Virgin in Megara, presided by its vice-president, His Eminence Metropolitan Akakios of Attica and Diavlia, and appointed Metropolitan Maximos of Thessalonica locum tenens of the Archdiocese of Athens, given that Metropolitan Akakios is unable to fulfill such duties due to his health.
The venerable body of the ever-memorable Archbishop will lie in state at the Katholikon of the Monastery of the Most-Immaculate Virgin in Megara from 6 PM today. The funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday 8/21 September 2010 at 12 PM at the same Monastery. May his memory be eternal.
