Once again, brave men dove into the icy waters of New York's South Street Seaport in order to pursue Christ's Cross on the Feast of Theophany, January 6/19, 2008. Also known as Epiphany, this feast commemorates Christ's baptism in the Jordan River, where the "worship of the Trinity was made manifest" and wherein by voluntarily undergoing baptism, he sanctified the waters which would in turn sanctify those being baptized into him. Members of our various communities in New York were present for this blessed event.
Of special joy this year was the return of His Eminence Metropolitan Pavlos to the celebrations.
Jonesboro is a town located near the Eastern border of Arkansas, with a population of approximately 60,000. From a human standpoint, it’s not the most likely candidate for a traditional Orthodox mission, but for an Orthodox Christian who orders his priorities around Christ and His Church, it makes perfect sense.
